Importing a video
- Choose a video from the iOS photo picker. Comet receives only the item you select, not your entire Photos library.
- If an iCloud video will not import, open it in Photos first and wait for the full-resolution video to download, then try again.
- Make sure your iPhone has enough free storage for a local working copy and the generated swing clips.
- If an import is interrupted, reopen Comet and retry the video.
Scanning and swing detection
- For the best results, use a steady video with the golfer fully visible, good lighting, and limited obstruction.
- Longer or higher-resolution videos take more time. Keep Comet open if iOS cannot grant background-processing time.
- If a scan pauses, reopen Comet to let it resume or restart. Keep enough free storage available and avoid force-quitting during a scan.
- Automated detection can occasionally miss a swing or select imperfect clip boundaries. You can adjust the before-and-after clip window in Settings for future clips.
Automatic shot tracing
- After Comet clips your video, it automatically queues each clip for a ball-flight trace. You do not need to start tracing each shot yourself.
- Traces process one at a time on your iPhone. A queued clip may be waiting for scanning or another trace to finish.
- If Comet asks you to review a possible shot, approve it before its trace can run.
- Open a clip to watch its trace once processing finishes. If a trace fails, use the retry action for that shot or Retry failed traces in the session menu.
- Steady footage, good lighting, and a clearly visible ball help. Some videos may not produce a visible trace, and automatic traces may be imperfect.
Background processing
- Comet asks iOS to continue clipping and tracing after you leave the app. iOS decides whether background processing is available at that moment.
- Leave Settings > Processing > Continue in Background enabled and follow any progress shown by iOS.
- If iOS pauses processing, return to Comet to resume. The app recovers interrupted work when possible; some scans or traces may need to restart.
- Connecting your iPhone to power and closing other demanding apps may help with long scans.
Purchases and subscriptions
Open Comet > Settings > Subscription to check your Pro status.
- Restore Purchases asks the App Store to restore eligible Comet Pro purchases made with your Apple Account.
- Manage Subscription opens Apple’s subscription-management screen, where you can view, change, or cancel an active subscription.
- If Pro access does not update immediately after a purchase or restore, confirm that the device is signed into the correct Apple Account, check the network connection, and try Restore Purchases again.
Apple handles billing, cancellations, and refunds. Deleting Comet does not cancel a subscription.
Your videos stay on your device
Video selection, swing detection, clipping, ball-flight tracing, and playback happen on your iPhone. Comet does not upload your videos, clips, thumbnails, shot traces, or swing-analysis results to us or Firebase. See our Privacy Policy for details about limited analytics and crash diagnostics.
